Supporting Desert Leadership Programs

Arup has been working with Desert Knowledge Australia (DKA) now for a number of years in particular supporting their Desert Leadership programs.  www.desertknowledge.com.au/

On 25th January 2013, DKA launched their 2013 Alice Springs Desert Leadership program and they are currently seeking mentors and participants.

“It is terrific to see DKA moving forward on this important program thanks to corporate sponsorship from Arup (via our community partnering fund) and other companies including TIO and the AFL.” Said Arup’s Peter Bowtell.

Arup is also involved in the March AFL fundraising lunch to secure further funding for this and other DKA initiatives including their soon to be launched Leaders for Leadership Network.

The Desert Leadership program is a valuable initiative addressing the barriers to leadership development in Alice Springs. In particular it brings together emerging local leaders with leaders from outside of the desert community across the corporate, government and not-for-profit sectors.  The program seeks to build, support and skill the next generation of indigenous and non-indigenous leaders – preparing them for a shared future.

We have been lucky enough to host groups within the Melbourne office over the past three years as part of the program and will be involved again in 2013 in supporting a city based experience for the leadership group.  Read more about our past programmes.
