On 14 March Arup attended the inaugural Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Careers Fair at South Bank in Brisbane – the first event of its kind held in Australia. With fellow EWB supporters SKM, John Holland, GHD, PB and Worley Parsons, it was an excellent forum for us to speak directly with those particularly ambitious students who aspirations extend beyond more than ‘just getting through’ their degree. We met some very passionate future engineers – passionate both about using their engineering skills for the benefit of their community, and passionate about starting their careers with a firm like Arup.
We embraced the opportunity to give a short presentation about Arup as well as our unique graduate program which opens up a world of possibilities for graduates joining the firm. The presentation was followed by a more personal and interactive ‘networking’ style discussion with students. The evening went much later than planned such was the enthusiasm of the 65+ students who were eager to find out more about Arup, our graduate program, and how we operate as a firm.
As a gold partner with EWB, Arup is proud to share the values and goals to ‘Engineer a Better World’. A big thank you to Evan Lo, Matt Sorenson and Sarah Brennan who attended with Anna Timings and spoke with the students, sharing their enthusiasm for the firm. We look forward to receiving the applications for vacation and graduate work from the students we spoke with on the night.
