Festive seasons are not merely about celebration but also about sharing and giving. At Christmas 2015 and the following Chinese New year, 60 Arupians joined our strategic charity partner, A Drop of Life, to visit the elderly in Hong Kong, spreading love and care.

On 19 December 2015, we visited an elderly home in To Kwa Wan and held a Christmas party with its residents. Apart from role-playing games and song quizzes, we also delivered gift packs prepared by A Drop of Life to everyone.

On 30 January, just a few days before the Chinese New Year, we joined a mission trip to Shek Kip Mei Estate and gave away joy and warmth to the elderly living alone. We sponsored and packed 500 “goodie bags” with healthy food and gifts such as fruits, rice and scarfs, and distributed them at the estate’s playground. With the help of the organiser, volunteers were divided in groups of 4-5 and distributed the bags door-to-door to about 100 elderly people who live alone.

Such elderly visits are not just about sharing happiness; they also give us chances to chat with the elderly and learn about their needs and stories.
