Arup has been named winner of the Social Responsibility Award at the Cathay Pacific China Business Awards 2014, a scheme designed to celebrate UK business dynamism and success in Hong Kong and mainland China.
This is the third time we have won under this scheme, after the Green Ribbon Award in 2005 and the Continued Commitment Award in 2008.
The Social Responsibility Award recognises our continuous efforts to benefit China in a socially responsible manner, through initiatives including the Arup Cause, the Sichuan Motianling Nature Reserve and the award-winning Arup x Wu Zhi Qiao Bridge. The bridge that creates a safe lifeline for over 3,000 villagers in remote rural China is smartly designed by Arup and hand-built by a team of Arup staff and other volunteers.
“It is a tremendous honour to receive this award. Arup is proud to have played a part in supporting the incredible growth and development of China over several decades and this award highlights our continuing commitment to make a positive difference for people across the region. As we grow in China, we have also developed the firm’s ability to support local people, helping to build more sustainable and resilient communities.”
