The Seattle office spent two weeks raising funds for Food Lifeline with a number of fun activities and earning points to compete under the Design & Construction sector. This year’s Food Frenzy was a record-breaking year for Food Lifeline and Arup. Over 92 participating organisations raised USD$708,000 and provided 3.5 million meals to children in Western Washington who rely on free or reduced meals during the school year but have no access during the summer months. Food Lifeline’s Kid Café program provides healthy kid-friendly snacks and meals where kids live, learn, and play. The program also supports families in need by stocking their shelves with nutritious foods.

We kicked off the fundraiser with successful events such as the Grocery Buyout Wall which over sold-out in just three days and the Monkey Invasion aka ‘Get the Monkey off your back’. For the invasion staff paid to send a giant inflatable monkey to a colleague or purchase insurance for the day/week/or the entire campaign.

Arup Seattle’s fundraising total was USD$2,571.67 amounting to 12,858 meals provided. Even though we didn’t finish in the top three for other categories, we showed 500% growth in per capita points and Food Lifeline recognised our improvement and awarded us with this year’s ‘Flash Forward Award’.
