The ACE Mentor Program of America (ACE) is geared towards educating and inspiring high school students to become professionals in the design and construction industry across the US. Participants in the program are exposed to real-world design problems through interactions with professionals from a variety of disciplines including: architects, interior designers, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, construction managers, and many more. Students are divided into teams where they are tasked with developing creative solutions for design challenges within the built environment. This hands-on approach provides participants with invaluable experience working within the design and construction industry. Over 8,000 high school students participate in the program annually.
Beyond the education the students receive, another important part of the ACE Mentor program is the scholarship money given out to deserving students who choose to pursue college degrees in the fields of architecture, construction, or engineering. To date, ACE has granted over $14 million in scholarships to participating students.
Arup has been actively involved with the ACE Mentor Program for over a decade and currently sponsors ACE teams in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and Chicago. As part of this sponsorship, Arup provides financial support for scholarships and staff volunteer their time as team leaders and mentors.
