Arup staff in our Danish office have been responding to the European migrant crisis by gathering supplies to send to the refugees.
Members of the Arup Danish office joined a Copenhagen initiative to sort through thousands of bags of items which had been donated by members of the Danish public. The supplies, which included blankets, toys, shoes and various items of clothing, were vacuum-packed into sealed bags and then sent to the Greek island of Lesvos, where there are currently reported to be around 12,000 migrants struggling without food or shelter. The shipments were transported in 10 containers donated by the Danish shipping company, Maersk.
The Arup Europe Community Engagement Committee continues to look at ways to support the migrant crisis, more updates to follow.
